Rain seriously interfered with the county cricket matches. The results were as follows:

Surrey v. Somerset. —Surrey: I*irst innings, 158 (Young four /or 50); second innings, four for 161 (declared). Somerset: First innings, 179 (Pouch live for 25); second innings, two fur 50. Somerset \you on the first innings. Yorkshire v. Gloucestershire. —Yorkshire: First innings, 462 (Ohlrovd 127, Wood 91). Gloucestershire: First innings, 125 (Verity five fur 18). They followed on, and made 150 (Rhodes four for 21). Yorkshire won l>y an innings and 187 runs.

blamorganshire v. Sussex.—Glamorganshire : First innings, 210. Sussex: First innings, two for 100. Tlic match was drawn.

Northamptonshire v. Essex.—Northamptonshire: First innings, 458. Essex: First innings, five for 172. The match was drawn.

Worcestershire v. Leicestershire.—Worcestershire: First innings, 222. Leicestershire; First innings, 58 (Perks seven for 20). il'liey followed on and made 152. Worcestershire won by an> innings and 12 runs. GENTLEMEN V. PLAYERS. CRICKET MATCH DRAWN. LONDON, July 13. In the cricket matcli Gentlemen y. Players, the Gentlemen made 292, and the Players 263 in the first innings. Peebles took six wickets for 105 runs.. The Gentlemen in the second innings made 197 for four wickets and declared (Duleepsinhji 103, not out). The Players in the second innings made 33 for three wickets. The match was drawn.
