BUTTER MARKET SLOW.

NEW ZEALAND 134s TO 1365. LONDON. July 17. The butter market is slow. Danish is firmer at 148s to 150s; choicest salted New Zealand, 134s to 1365; Australian, 132s to 1345; unsalted New Zealand, 148s to 150s; Australian, 132s to 1345. The cheese market is quiet. WEAK DEMAND FOR POTATOES [BY TELEGRAPH.—rRESS ASSOCIATION'.] CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The potato market continues to provide the centre of interest in the Canterbury grain and produce trade to-day. The position was slightly weaker for prompt delivery, while the forward situation is practically unaltered. There is a fair amount of business being done. July and prompt deliveries are worth £5 to £5 5s per ton and August-September to £5 15s. The Waimarino is to leave to-night and will take about 3000 sacks from Lyttelton. She has on board 3250 sacks from Timaru, the largest shipment from Timaru this season. The weakness of the present position is partly due to the fact that a largo quantity had been sold for July delivery. The quotation to on trucks is £4 to £4 2s 6d a ton.

The oats market is quiet, but firm, with little alteration in values since last report. Local B grade Gartons are worth 4s, f.0.b., s.i., and local A gartons 4s Id, s.i. The chaff market is steady, with a few orders coming to hand. Srjes have been made for prompt delivery at ££ 17s 6d to £7 a ton, f.0.b., s.i., which is equivalent to £5 7s 6d to £5 10s a ton on trucks. The onion* market has practically ceased business. Onions are worth £2 10s to £3 10s, according to qualityThere is a little business being done in new season's wheat on the basis of 5s Sdi to 5s 6d a bushel for Tuscan, according to stations.
