Mr. and Mrs. I'. A. Keveirs, Masterton, who have been spending a few days in Auckland, have returned to the Wairarapa by car, via Taranaki.

Mr. and Mrs. Ilollis Whiting, of Devonport, and Miss Phyllis Whiting, of Opawa, are spending a holiday with Mr. and Mrs. James Whiting, of Cliristehurch. They will attend the Rood—Whiting wedding on Wednesday.

Miss Hull, princioal of tho Cliristehurch Free" Kindergartens, is one of tho New Zealand delegates to tho Pan-Pacific Conference at Honolulu. She will arrive in Auckland sumo time next week to join the Aorangi for the Islands.

Tho Y.W.C.A. Mothers' Club met on Tuesday afternoon. Madatno Amy Milburn gave some much-appreciated songs, and Miss Yuki Kumura, of Japan, spoke upon various customs in Japan. Miss licntham, acting-secretary of tho Y.W.C.A.. extended an invitation to members to a farewell evening to Miss Kumura, to be held at the end of July. Afternoon tea was served.

The monthly meeting of St. Andrew's branch of tho Mothers' Union, Epsom, was held on Thursday afternoon. In tho unavoidable absence of tho vicar, tho Bev. Mr. Willis, the prosident, Mrs. W. Wood, conducted tho service in the church. .Tho guests of tho afternoon were the Cradlo Roll Mothers of tho parish. Afternoon tea was .served in tho kindergarten. Mrs. G. Coats gave an address on tho spiritual training of children in the homo and drew attention to a number of helpful booklets compiled by tho Mothers' Union in England.

Before leaving Chvistchnrch for Wellington, from which place she leaves to day by the Eangitana for England, Miss Aroha Clifford was tho guest of honour at several farewell parties. Among the gifts that have been presented to her was a flying log-book by tho pilots and pupils of the Canterbury Aero Club, of which she has been a prominent member. She has also received a number of cheering messages from Australia and other countries wishing her good fortune. It is tho intention of Mr. Clifford and Miss Clifford to see the Passion Play at OberAniinergau, in Bavaria.

A very enjoyable afternoon reception, at which Her Excellency Lady Bledisloe was the guest of honour, was given by Lady Myers at her homo in Kelburu, Wellington, on Wednesday. Many official people were invited to meet her, including tho wivos of Cabinet Ministers, Judges, heads of Government departments, and some of the leading lawyers' wives as well. Ihe house was charmingly decorated with flowers, many pots of hothouse primulas being much admired, as well as abutilons, bright autumn leaves and berries. One table was arranged with shaded pink primulas from Mrs. Cobbe's beautiful garden at Feilding, the other table being decorated with vivid viburnam berries. Bright fires blazed, delicious tea and chocolate with "accompaniments" wove served, and the party was a very pleasant event on a particularly (■■lid winter's afternoon. Ladv Myers wn:; in palest biuo lace over chiffon, with diamante trimininc. and a shoulder spray of pink roses. Iter Excellency was in deep red crepe de chine, her hat being exactly to tone, and a handsome sable coat was also worn. Mrs. Bathurst, who accompanied her, woro black chiffon over white, and black hat, Mrs. Cecil Day was in a red costume and hat and navy coat.
