PROVINCIAL CONFERENCE. FORTHCOMING FIXTURES. ALLOCATION OF DATES. The? annual conference of tho Auckland Provincial Council of Affiliated Agricultural and Pastoral Associations was hold yesterday, the president, Mr. J. 1 ■ I' Mitchell, presiding. The following delegates were present: — Messrs. W. W Massoy and E. D. McLennan (Auckland), A. E. Bedggood (Bay of Islands), N. J. Sutherland and D. M. Bryan (Clevedon), If. C. Kissling and R. C. Clark (Franklin), F \V Kean (Tauranga), W. .1. Lowe (Te, Puke), C. P Butler (Whangarei), and G. 0. Sehiska (Waiwcra). •:

In welcoming the visiting delegates the president, commented upon the increase in rlie number of representatives to tho conference since 1920. lie said there were, now 51 associations in the North Island, and of this number 33 were in the Auckland Province. Special reference was mad< to the value, of the co-operation of the various associations in dealing with matters of common interest. Mr. Mitchell expressed the hope that t ho conference would assist in bringing the associations intc greater touch with each other. Among the many matters of mutual interest to all associations was the avoidancel of clashing of show dates, tho regulation of side-shows and the chawing up of uniform schedules of classes to suit present needs. Youths as Judges. A remit from tho Auckland Association recommending that a scheme be intioduced for the purpose of training youths to become practical judges of the various classes at agricultural shows was carried. A further remit, suggesting that the North Island conference be asked to support the proposal for tho issue of the national diploma of agriculture and dairy science to suitable candidates was held over, as the matter is being investigated by tho Royal Agricultural Society It, was decided, on the recommendation of the Auckland Association, to compile n list of judges in needlework, art, homo industries, photography, poultry, (logs and rabbits, for the guidance of the smaller shows. A letter was received from tho New Zcaiap I Dairy Breeders' Association asking that no list of official judges be published other than those lists received by the various breeders' societies It. was decided to conform with the request. It was resolved that the regulation of side-shows he referred to the executive committee with power to act and that the matter be treated as urgent. Dates ol Show 3. The following dates for shows were confirmed:—Waikato, November 12-13; To Aroha, November 25-26; Bay of Islands, November 19; Ilelensvillo, January 29; Tangiteroria, Rodney and Clevedon, February 7; Mat.akana, February 14; Franklin, February 13-14; To Awarnutu, Feb ruary 18; Northern Wairoa and Waiwcra, February 21; Matamata, February 24; Broadwood, February 27; Cambridge, February 4 5; Auckland, February 26-27 28; Towai, March 7; Morrmsville, March 11. The Whangarei Association has offered to alter the date of its show from November 26 27 to December 3 4 in order to avoid clashing with tho Te Aroha Association, which is holding its show in its jubilee week. ft was decided to supply a list of snow dates to the Tatiranga Association so that Bay of Plenty show dates may be arranged to the best advantage to all.

The following officers were elected:— President, Mr. .J. T. F. Mitchell; vicepresidents, Messrs. R. C. Clark and L. W. Nelson: secretary, Mr. W. F. O'Donnell; executive committee, Messrs. IT. C. Kissling, D. M. Bryan and E Schisku.
