HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST

Tho fallowing weather forecast for <lO hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent Inst evening:—Th« westerly storm area is moving across the Tasman Sea to New Zealand. Expect fair to cloudy weather, conditions hemming unsettled in west coast districts and southern areas, with rain following in those places. The rain area is likely to move northward and become fairly general after about "4 hours. Northerly to liorfh westerly winds, moderate, to strong, increasing strong to gale southward of New Plymouth and Napier. Pens rough. Local outlook: Chiefly fair to fine to-dav, but clouding over and rain following tonight. Equally, with heavy showers 10-tnorrow. Milder temperatures. Moderate to strong and increasing northwest wind.

GOVERNMENT REFORT

The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—Pressure is still rather high to the north of the Dominion, but a series of depresssions of the westerly type is moving across the Tasman Sea and southern New Zealand. Indications aro for moderate to strong westerly to northerly winds, freshening at times to gale force in and south of Conk Strait. Seas rough at times south of Cape Egmont, elsewhere. moderate. Strong north-westerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, reaching gale force at times in the southern portion. Sens moderate in the northern portion and rough in the southern portion of the Tasman Sea. The weather will be unsettled and changeable, with rain, more especially in districts with a westerly aspect. Temperatures mild. RAINFALL RECORD.
