NEW POST OFFICE.

IMPROVEMENT AT NAPIER. AN ATTRACTIVE BUILDING. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] NAPIER. Thursday. Tho closest consideration of the convenience of tho public and staff is evident in tho interior arrangement and equipment of the new post office at Napier, which will be occupied by tho department on July 23. Tho new building will replace tho present wooden structure. Tho main entrance has polished marble walls, but the walls of the office itself are of white plaster, with which the stained wooden partitions contrast attractively. The Money-order and Savings Bank department occupies the whole of tho Hastings Street front to tho right of tho main entrance. Immediately opposite tho main entrance is the telegraph counter. Adjoining that is tho postal counter and the parcels counter. A compressed-air system has been installed for transferring tho telegrams from the counter to tho operating room on tho first floor. Provision is made for four telephone boxes to bo built into tho main entrance. Tho private boxes are of steel compartment type, with glass doors, that enable ono to see if there is any mail without going to the trouble of opening them. The rest of the space on tho ground floor is taken tip mainly by Iho mail room and parcel room. Tho first floor will be occuin the meant imo tho second floor will not, pied by tho clerical and other staffs, and bo in uso.
