THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE.

IRREGULAR PRICE MOVEMENTS. A '.Moderate volume of business was transacted on the Auckland Stock Ex change yesterday, with the recent irregularity of prico movements still in evidence. Government investments were not dealt in, but vvero freely inquired for, the prices offered being in several cases slightly firmer than on Saturday. Banks were weaker. English, Scottish and Australians, with sale at £6, showed a fall of 10s since the beginning of June. Nationals of Australasia, contributing, which made £7 4s, had last been dealt in on Juno 12 at £7 15s. New Zealands were dono 2d cheaper at 57s lOd. An offer of £ll 12s was mado for Unions quoted for sale at £l2. In the insurance group the demand for New Zealands weakened 9d, but sellers remained firm at 47s 6d In loan and agency offers for Golds-brough-Morts fell 6d to 28s 9d, but sellers quoted 3d firmer at 29s 9d. In coal quotations were firm on Saturday's closing rates. Two sales were made, Renowns being unchanged at 15s and Pukemiros registering a fall of 2s sinco the last sale had been mado at '6B? on April 15. Gas shares showed strength, offers for Aucklands being raised 2d toward a selling quotation of 265. Northern Steamships maintained the current sale prices of both issues, the ordinary shares being done at 14s 6d, with tho demand unsatisfied, and the contributing at 6s 6d. Offers for Devonport Steams were raised 6d to 22s 6d without drawing a selling quotation.* In breweries New Zealands appreciated 3d to sell at 51s.

In tho industrial group tho only sale was made in Colonial Sugars, which were 7s 6d cheaper at £42 2s 6d. British Tobaccos were quoted ex div. at 37s 6d and 38s 3d, this representing a readjustment of Is and 9d. Offers for Electrolytic Zincs weakened slightly. New Zealand Farmers' Fertilisers were wanted 3d better at 20s 6d, while 4,3s 6d was offered for Wilsons Cements quoted for sale at 45s 3d. For Sanfords, available at 17s, tho best offer was 9s 6d. A further appreciation of 6d was shown by Wailiis, in tho mining section. Two sales were made, at 14s 5d and 14s 9d respectively, compared with 14s 3d on Saturday.
