ROTORUA NOTES.

KITCHEN AFTERNOON. Miss Kate Hockly was the guest of honour at a kitchen tea given by Mrs. F. Wilkie at her residence, Pukaki Street, on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Wilkie received her guests in a frock of roso du bsrry embossed georgette. Miss Hockly wore navy crepe de chine, and Mrs. Grove was in black georgette. The drawing room had been charmingly decorated with bowls of violets, flag lilies, foliago and berries. Several competitions were played, the winners of which were Mrs. Roberts and Mrs Hay. Air. Rees-George was host at a most enjoyable bridge and five hundred evening, given at the Tea Kiosk on Friday for Aliss Kate Hockly and Air. F. Grove, who aro to be married on Wednesday. The party tool; tho form of a china evening, and many beautiful gifts were brought by the guests. Aliss Hockly wore a frock of floral ring velvet; Airs. Hockly was in black over beigo georgette, with black satin beaute-coat; and Airs. Grove woro a frock of black ninon. The room was arranced with tables for bridge and fivo hundred. The following were presented with prizes by Airs. Chand ler:—Bridge, Airs. A Brown and Air Goudie, 1; consolation prizes, Aliss K. Hockly and Air. P. Basham. Five hundred Airs. AlcLean and Air. Ewen, 1; consolation prizes, Airs. Jen-is and Air. Aft Lean; hidden number, Air. Russell. Later Air. F. Grove, ou behalf of Aliss Hockly and himself, thanked Air ReesGeorge for the very happy evening ho had given them and their friends, also every •one present for the wonderful china which had been given to them. Air. F. F. Hockly, father of tho honoured guest, followed in similar strain.

Mrs. Holland was hostess at a most enjoyable afternoon given at her homo on Friday fur Mis. W. B. Giesen, who is sailing for Sydney this week. Mrs. Holland welcomed her guests weanug a frock of navv satin bcaute. Mrs. Gieseu was in black laeo, with hat to match, and fur coat. Tho drawing room was artistically arranged with large bowls of hydrangeas and vases of pink heath. Opening.out of tho drawing room was a room charmingly decorated with autumn leaves and yellow jonquils. Among tlioso who were present were Lady Fisher, Mrs. F. F. Hockly, JSirs. Grove, Mrs. Hall, Mrs. Butts, Mrs. Urqu hart, Mrs. Somerville, Mrs. Roberts, Mrs. Hay, Mrs. Wilkie, Mrs. Ilerrold, Mrs. Wallis, Mrs. Davys, Mrs. Cooncy, Mrs Hitchcock, Mrs. Andrews, Mrs. Bunyard, Mrs. Uangerson, Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. W.
