Sandham for England. Chapman won the tos3 and elected ,to ' bat. He did England excellent service by forcing the Australians to field. There were 17,000 spectators, including the Duica of York, when play commenced. The boundaries were shortened -in order to permit of more spectators. Duleepsinhji and Hendrea were togethaf when luncheon v."as taken, with the scor» 129 for three wickets.
