BIRKENHEAD BAND.

THE ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of members and supporters of the Birkenhead Borough. Band was welt attended. The Mayor, Mr* J. P. McPhail, who presided, cancratulated the bandsmen on their progress. The report stated that the strength was now 24 players, with three learning: members. The 28 instruments • were in good condition. The conductor, Lieutenant J. T. Lighten, stated that a trial programme was to be given at IYA. with a view to a 12 months' engagement. The band is to enter for the B and C grade competitions in Wellington.
