SOLICITOR FOUND DEAD.
SUICIDE WHEN DEPRESSED* EFFECT OF INFLUENZA. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.J CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. James Allison Beattie, aged 74, a solicitor, residing in Deans Avenue, was found dead in his home this morning. There was a shotgun beside the body. The deceased had been in ill-health for some time. An inquest concerning the death was held this afternoon. Evidence was given by Mr. Beattie, a son of deceased, and Dr. Whetter, who said that deceased had recently had a severe attack of influenza. He had suffered from acute depression, which had greatly retarded, his return to health. The coroner, Mr. E. D. Mosley, found that death was due to a gunshot.wound in the head, self-inflicted while deceased was suffering from extreme mental depression after an attack of- influneza.
