LOCOMOTIVE DERAILED.
MAIN LINES BLOCKED.
WELLINGTON TRAFFIC DELAYED.
[bz telegraph.—press ASSOCIATION. J
"WELLINGTON, Monday
The engine of the 10.17 a.m. Welling-ton-Palmerston North mixed train was derailed about 11 a.m. to-day at the north end of Johnsonvillo station. All the wheels except the leading pair of bogey wheels were derailed, completely blocking both the up and down main lines. The mishap is believed to have been caused by a small stone getting between the points, as a stone was noticed in the "frog" where the engine was thrown off the lines.
Tho Napier and New Plymouth expresses had gone through before the accident, so that only suburban traffic was delayed. The line was cleared by about 2.30 p.m. Passengers by local trains were transhipped on either side of the block.
