DUTIES ON STOCK FOODS.
Sir. —Now that tho question of feeding concentrated foods to dairy stock has become a question of practical farm economics. and the conference of the National Dairy Association is to he held in Hamilton this week, it is to be hoped that an opportunity will be taken to bring tha matter of the remission of the duties before the notice of tho Government. An estimate in round figures of the benefit-* to be derived from their use may help 11 stimulate our legislators to a realisation of their responsibilities.. A profit of £1 pei} cow is a reasonable one for one year, another- .€1 per cow per annum of added fertility to the soil,..and last, but no'j least, another £l per cow per annum will bo saved in depreciation, making a total of £3 per cow yearly, which in a population of one million cows would mean a:i annual saving of £3,000,000, apart from ;iiiv question of the by-products of t'n® industry, A. Ross. Morrinsville.
