THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. t BUSINESS BELOW NORMAL. Trading was fairly quiet on tho Auckland Stock Exchange at tho opening of tho week yesterday. Tho gilt-edged section was unaltered and steady inquiry was maintained for debentures, particularly in commercial interests. In banks tho demand was renewed for practically all tho listed issuos. Commercials of Australia were wanted at unchanged rates and sold at the current price, 21s 9d, at which figure further shares were available. Following payment of tho dividend Now Zealands changed hands Is 6d lower at 58s. More woro sought 3d firmer than Saturday at 57s 9d. Offers for New South Wales advanced 7s 6d to £3B 7s 6d. An accommodation movement in Unions, which wero in de mand 3s dearer, failed to' produce business. In insurance New Zealands wero dealt in twice at 475, a fall of 3d, after which offers for more advanced from 46s 6d to 46s 9d. There wero no notable movements in tho loan and agency section and a firm inquiry for coals remained unsatisfied, although in most instances shares wero available. In gas Aucklands registered further progress and were dono 6d bettor at 25s 3d, which equalled tho price touched last November.

General investments were quiet. Farmers' Tradings provided the only business with a current-price sale at 9s. Inquiry was made for Wilsons Cemonts 3d better at 44s 9d, sellers easing 6d from 465. Mining investments were unchanged. Mount Lyclls had sale ex div. at 263 9d, a fall of 7d on tho last transaction.
