DEATH FOLLOWS ARREST.
OPENING OF THE INQUEST.
An inquest was opened on Saturday by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., into' the death of Charles Wilkie, aged 50; whose death occurred on Friday after ho had been arrested on a charge of helpless drunkenness. After his arrest ho was attended by Dr. C. H. Tewsley, and was removed to the gaol. He was not able to appear in the Police Court to answer the chargo, and on the application of Sub-Inspector Shanahan was remanded for a week for medical treatment. After formal evidence of identification had been heard tho inquest was adjourned sine die.
