WEEK-END WEATHER.
CONDITIONS IN SOUTH.
Auckland.—lhe weather improved dur» ing the week-end, but a strong southwesterly wind made the conditions very cold. Rain fell at intervals on' Saturday morning, but the showers were less frequent after midday, and very little rain was experienced yesterday. Tho barometer rose after the wind changed early on Saturday morning and tho reading last evening was 30.05 in.
Wellington.—Thero was almost a cloudless sky all day yesterday. A cold northwest wind was blowing and veered slightly north after sunset. On Saturday there was bright sunshine and it was warmer than yesterday.
Christchurch.—There were many kinds of weather at tho week-end. On Saturday a strong north-west wind blew, with ft mild temperature. In tho late afternoon tho wind veered to tho south-west and it was bitterly cold for an hour. In the evening snow fell and frost followed. Yeslerday morning the frost lay white everywhere. Yesterday the weather was again mild, with a north-west breeze.
Dunediu.—Tho weather was very wintry in Dunodin 011 Saturday, intermittent rain and snow falling. Conditions were very cold, the maximum temperature' being 48 degrees. Tho barometer, which fell rapidly on Friday night, rose during tho day and. tho reading on Saturday evening was 29.30 in. The barometer fell again yesterday, the reading being 29.20 in. Yesterday morning was bright and fine, the temperature at noon being 50 degrees! Later the weather bo« came overcast and threatening and rain set in. The barometer was still falling.
