INWARD GOODS SHED.
NEW RAILWAY BUILDING. WORK NOT YET COMMENCED. Work on the new railway inward goods shed has not yot been commenced by the successful contractors, Messrs. J. T. Julian and Sons, Ltd., whoso tender was accepted at the beginning of tho month. The now building, which is to have .1 frontage to Beach Road, is to be 240 ft.* long and 100 ft. wide, and is to cost £21,557. Tho facado will be in keeping with that of the station, the offices facing Beach Road, near tho main building. Modern appliances for the expeditious handling of goods will. bo provided and roller shutter doors will give protection to tho goods in wet-weather, in addition to allowing quick transference of merchandise at any point in the shed. At present tho inward goods traffic is handled in temporary sheds near the waterfront and these will continue in use until the new building is ready. It is not yet known when the construction will commence, as tho contractors are awaiting instructions from the Railways Department,
