CONTESTS FOR SAGE CUP.

FRANKTON DEFEATS CITY. The fourth series of games in the Hamilton Rugby Union's Sago Cup competition was played at Rugby Park on Saturday in dull and showery weather. The Frank-ton-C'ity match proved an uninteresting contest and the former team had little difficulty in winning by IX points to 7. The opening exchanges were marked by ragged pluy on both sides, the greasy ball militating against effective handling by the backs. Plankton's first try resulted from a clever piece of play by Welch, who broke through the opposition near half-way. He raced to a handy position and passed to Bayly who scored. Park failed to convert. After this reverse City continued the pressuro on the Frankton lino and fully extended the defence. A penalty was awarded against Frankton near Quarter-way and Goins kicked a fine gpal from a difficult angle. Shortly afterwards Mansel notched a lucky field goal from 30 yards out. City maintained the offensive but shortly before the interval the Frankton forwards were prominent in ft strong rush which nearly resulted in a ecore. With the wind behind them in the second spell tho Frankton backs were able to show to better advantage. From a loose scramble a fow yards out A. 11.
