PROVINCIAL ELECTIONS.
TWO GOVERNMENTS' VICTORIES. (Received June 20, 5.5 p.m.) OTTAWA, June 19. General elections were held to-day in the provinces of New Brunswick and Alberta. As a result of the polling in New Brunswick the Conservative Government, led by Mr. J. Baxter, Premier, was victorious, winning 31 seats in tho House of Assembly to the Liberal Opposition's 17. The state of parties at tho recent dissolution was Conservatives, 35; Liberals, 11; vacant, 2. Mr. Wendell P. Jones, Leader of tho Opposition, was defeated at Carelton. The Speaker, Mr. J. L. O'Brien, and the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Lewis Smith, were defeated.
Tho Alberta returns are not yet complete, but they indicate the return to office of the United Farmers' Government headed by the Premier, Mr. J. E. Brownlee.
So far the Government has won 32 seats and is leading in seven other constituencies. Seats won by the other parties are Liberals, three; Conservatives, two; Independents, two; Labour, two. The combined Oppositionists are leading in 10 constituencies and in four others the results have not been reported.
