TROTTING NOTES.

HORSES FOR SOFT GOING. LAST YEAR'S' PERFORMANCES. As the going is sure to be heavy for the opening of the Auckland Trotting Clubs' Winter Meeting at Alexandra Park to-day. - it may be of interest to followers of form to recall the horsea who raced prominently at the winter carnival last year, when the going was also heavy. Winners at last year's meeting engaged to-day are Akenehi, Mountain Dell, Floraline, Nelson Tasker, Linkman, Sebisca, . Nelson Dillon, Cardinal Logan, Reremai and The Tartar, while placegetters with engage-, ments to-day are Trustworthy, Evelyn Locanda, Goldman, Hal Chimes, Dipnoi. Hoa- ' tess. Rose Bingen, and All Bell. . >'"L VISITOR'S LATE ARRIVAL, OLIVE NELSON'S" LONG 1 TRIP. ' Delay occasioned by bad woather has caused Olive Nelson to have a long tripfrom Ivaramea to Auckland, and she is not' expected to arrive here until this morning,. When ready to take his departure from'T* Ivaramea with Olive Nelson. J. R.• Simpson was delayed for a week and then when ha " did get away a rough trip caused thesteamer to be too late to make connection with the Tamahine at Picton. Olive Nek-v.; son's prospects of winning n stake at the ~; Auckland Meeting were highly regarded by those who have seen her racing, but, after such a long trip, her chance on the first day is likely to bo affected. PROMISING YOUNG TROTTERS. PARRISH BELLE, BLUE AND GOLD. One of tlie interesting features of the Winter Handicap, the slow class trotters' event to be decided at Alexandra Park today, should be the meeting of the . promising young trotters Parrish Belle and Blue and Gold, who have shown consistently good form in the past few months. Parrish Belle lias won at each of her three starts, while Blue and Gold has notched two wins and a second in three starts this season. On actual figures there appears to bo very little to choose between them, for • Parrish Belle has winning times of 3.51 2-5 and .3.-14 for a mile and a-lialf, and 4.5S 1-5 for two miles, while Blue and Gold lias winning times of 3.47 4-5 and 3.44 ,1-5 for a mile and a-half and a placed performance of 4.53 4-5. In to-day's race Blue and Gold has to concedo Parrish 12 yards and she will need to trot well to beat the local filly, whose Rdmlrers expect her to continue her winning sequence.
