THE ORDEAL.
It is said that debutantes these. days show little nervousness when making their first curtsy to Their Majesties .it was not always so. An old lady, tho grandmother of a girl who is one of this year's debutantes,, states that'when she made her approach to Queen Victoria she trembled from head to foot.
Tho Queen gavo her a nice smile and took her hand. " Now, don't bo fright* cned, my dear,"-she said. Queen Mary has a charming way with debutantes, which helps to reassure them.
