BRIDGE AFTERNOON.
OVERSEAS LEAGUE. A most successful bridge afternoon, arranged by the members of the house committee of the Overseas League, was held in the Lewis Eady Hall yesterday. There were over forty tables and the winners of the prizes, which were donated by tho Misses Kissling (2) and Sir. Bruce, were:—Mrs. Forte, 1; Mrs. J. E. Wilson, 2; Mrs. Jennings, consolation prize. In July the league is moving into its new home in Short's Buildings, where it fans taken what were formerly the Lyceum Club quarters and yesterday's function was to raise funds for the furnishing, etc. Later in the afternoon tea was served.
The members of the committee responsible for the event comprised Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Melville, Miss Kissling, Miss 31. Kissling (hon. secretary). Miss Gerrie, Mr. Bruce and Mr. Tomkinson. Among those who had taken tables and were present were Mrs. Colin Campbell, Mrs. Nutter, Mrs. Wilcocks, Mrs. V/. Kenderdine, Mrs. G. King, Mrs. H.
Kissling, Mrs. G. Coats, Mrs. Melville, Mrs. C. Hav, Mrs. George Walker, Mrs. Percy Gould, Mrs. Patterson. litrs. Makgili, "Mrs. do Guerrier, Mrs. Eay Wilson, Mrs. W. Brabant, Mrs. H. Tiarks, Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Steer, ilrs. Henderson. Mrs. James, Mrs. Cummins, -Mrs. Ashcroffc, Mrs. Chatneld, Mrs. Pollock, Misses Kissling (2), Misses C. and F. Murray, Miss McClymont, Miss Early. Miss Montgomery, Miss Quayle, Miss Johnston. Although the wet afternoon prevented some from being present, there were fully 170 players in the hall, and the committee is delighted with the result.
