HOWICK TOWN BOARD.
WORK ON MAIN HIGHWAY. The Howick Town Board met on Thursday evening, Mr- John Crawford presiding. The board's engineer reported that a st;\rt had be n t: made by the contractors on tho cutting down and regrading of Stockade llill prior to commencing concreting of the Ilowick portion of the Parimure-Howick highway. Good progress had been made with (ho laying of water supply mains, the formation of footpaths and storm water drainage in Picton Street. The footpaths are being formed 12ft. wide in Picton Street, but the recommendation of tho engineer that the footpaths in all other streets bo 18ft. wide was adopted. It was decided to call for local tenders for the supply of scoria and other requirements for general maintenance work for the next 12 months, and for the formation of tho earthwork of footpaths in Church Street and Grey Street.
