MOUNT EDEN FINANCE.

Sir, —Tho ratepayers of Mount Eden are indebted to Mr. Nagle for some daylight into Mount Eden finance. But we want some more daylight. Can Mr. Nagle tell us how much borough money has gone to tho making of Nicholson Park, with its beautiful croquet lawn and now its new bowling greens, not to speak of a double dose of tennis lawns. This is borough money and we want to know what chance there is to get loan interest and sinking fund out of these investments. And how do the baths pay? And how does the tea kiosk pay ? And is it true, notwithstanding the objections to so-called "unfortunate idle rumours," that the Mayor wanted a rate of 4s 3d and the treasurer wanted to go "one better" with a rate of 4s 8d ? Also, I was nearly forgetting to ask how many hundreds of pounds of Mount Eden money have gone to the teaching of tho Auckland City Council how to run a waterworks ? More Light.
