SUBSIDISED FARM LABOUR.

Si r> —Would it not bo hotter to subsidise labour on unimproved land than to spend it on relief works and doubtful public works ? It would bo to tho settlers' advantage to seo that the money was well spent j it would encourage tho workers to go farming for themselves, and the Government of the day could point to whero there is work in plenty at reasonable wages and conditions. Our methods of' tho present day to relievo those unemployed aro wasteful and will, in tho end, create more unemployment, and also a very wrong impression on our youthful population. I make tho suggestion to subsidise labour on unimproved and partly improved farms to any of our political parties with tho twofold object of seeing tho unemployed relieved in a real and permanent way, and the country make better and sound progress. Town Woeicek.
