.WEEK-END WEATHER HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECASTTlio following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening —Tlio southern extension of the "cyclono which has boon raging off tlio east coast of Australia is now approaching tlio northern extremity of t»lio North Island. As previously mentioned, the storm is showing a southern declination, and tho northern portion of tlio North Island is likely to become involved. Indications show that tlio cyclono now crossing tho northern Tasman Sea is tho most intense experienced in recent years. Practically tho wholo of tho northern and western Tasman Sea is experiencing cyclonic conditions. Expect further heavy rain in places northward of New Plymouth and Napier. Mainly fair to fine weather over tho South Island. Easterly to northeasterly winds, strong to heavy galo, in places northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and strong south-easterlies ruling southward of tho above-mentioned places. Rough to heavy seas on tho cast coast, particularly in places northward of East Capo; smooth to modorato seas on tho west coast. Local outlook: Overcast with heavy, intermittent rain. Tho Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —Tho cyclono is now centred west of Capo Maria, and is of considerable intensity. A rather deep depression is also advancing on to southern New Zealand. Indications aro for moderate to strong easterly to northerly winds north of Groymoulh and Kaikoura, reaching a full galo at places, elsewhere north-easterly to northerly, and of galo force in Foveaux Stra't, backing to southerly later over tho southern half of tho South Island. Seas in New Zealand .waters heavy north of East Capo, rough about Eovcaux Strait, elsewhere moderato. Strong north winds to gales in tlx* eastern Tasman Sea, later backing to southerly in tho southern portion. Seas rough. Weather unsettled generally with rain in most districts, but more especially from Nelson and Marlbprough northwards, with many heavy falls, and temperatures mild. RAINFALL RECORD.
