LIQUOR WITHOUT LICENCE.

"'NO REGARD FOR THE LAW."

TERM OF IMPRISONMENT.

" You have no regard for the law, and the best thing I can do is to send you to gaol," said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., when William Buckley appeared in the Police Court yesterday for sentence on a charge of selling liquor without a licence. Buckley pleaded guilty to the charge, and also to a similar offence committed while he was awaiting sentence. He was sentenced to three months' imprisonment on each charge, the terms to be concurrent. Sub-Inspector Shanahan said Buckley, who appeared on summons, had supplied beer to a constable and another man at his shop in Hobson Street on June 14. " He has been fined £SO on two occasions, and now, after hearing of other offenders being fined, he has done the same thing again," the magistrate said. " He is liable to a fine of £IOO, or six months' imprisonment., and the best thing is to send him to gaol."
