IMPROVING THE BREED. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. [by telegraph.—press association.] PALMERSTON NORTH, Thursday. Tho Friesian cattle breeders to-day elected tho following officers: —President, Major R. A. W 7 ilson (Bulls); vice-presi-dents, Messrs. E. M. North (Omimi), and 11. E. Johnson (Tokaora); council, Messrs. E. M. North (Omimi), D. E. McGowan (Auckland), 11. E. Johnson (Tokaora), O. A. Cadwallader (Greytown); treasurer, Mr. D. J. McGowan. Special pt'izo money of £SO was allotted for provincial group competition at the Royal Show, and it was decided to pay 75 per cent, of the transport expenses of pedigree Friesians competing at tho Royal Show. North Island championships were allotted to the Franklin A. and P. Association, and South Island championships to tho Southland A. and P. Association. An allocation of £65 was made to tho 1930 Derby competition, to givo protection to new and inexperienced breeders, so that they may make purchases calculated to ensure a reasonable chance of success. Tho council was asked to enlargo tho present rules governing tho conduct of auction sales. Tho meeting approved a suggestion that the time had arrived when tlio association should ceaso to accept for tho herdbook any and every calf that happened to bo born of purebred parents, and tho council was instructed to draw up for consideration by tho next meeting a scale of points for classifying bulls and cows according to type, as well as on butter-fat. ....
