CONFERENCE OPENED. QUESTION OF BOBBY CALVES. [BX TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Dominion conference of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was oponed by the Minister of Health, the Hon. A. .T. Stall worthy, yesterday. Mr. G. Mitchell, president of the Wellington Society, occupied the chair. Tho matter of bobby calves was discussed at length and a motion was carried that the executive take steps in conjunction with the Farmers' Union and any other bodies concerned to urgo tho. Government to pass legislation to have calves tagged, so that they should be paid for according to quality, and thai lorries oil which : they wero carried should be divided into compartments. The conference passed a remit urging the acclimatisation societies to prohibit tho use of decoys by persons shootiug game.
