NORTH AUCKLAND AREA. RE-ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN. [by telegraph—own correspondent.] DARGAVILLE, Wednesday. At a meeting of the North Auckland Electric-Power Board Mr. J. A. McLean ' was elected chairman unopposed. Hitherto the board has been, known as tho Hobson Electric-Power Board, and Mr. McLean has been chairman since its inception six years ago. It was stated that, with everything favourable, it was hoped power would be, available in most parts of tho board s area within two years. Mr. George Rhodes, assistant secretary to the Hawke's Bay Power Board, was elected secretary. There were moro than 100 applicant's.

T. Tlinlon, presiding. ' The chairman's annual report stated that substantial progress had been made, both as regards supply and finance. The revenue from the sale of current had again shown a marked increase, being £50,053, as compared with £-15.01.4 for the previous year.' Tho number of consumers'had increased to 3703. • The accounts for tho year showed that, after providing for all interest for the year, amounting to £16,741, sinking fund instalments, ££957, and compulsory depreciation,' £3427, there was a net profit of £2735, which was considered very satisfactory. Arrangements had been made to extend the 11,000-volt • lines through Matahuru Valley for a distance of about six miles. The erection of six miles of lino to re; 1 iculatc the Wilton Collieries' mines, near Glen Massey, and to supply current to the township, would he undertaken as early as possible. 'i'iie following officers for the ensuing year were elected;— Chairman, Mr. T. llinton; vice-chairman, Mr. A. Livingstone; finance committee, Messrs. Livingstone, E. F. Peaeocke, W. Leo Martin and the chairman; works committee, Messrs. G. H. Boyd, W. Ilenry, W. C. E. George, S. S. Saulbrey, J. J. Rylmrn, G. Smith. The board decided to apply to the Local Government Loans Board for sanction to raise a loan of £22,000 for tho reticulation of tho portion of tho Raglan County recently .added to tho. central power area. Of this sum only about £II,OOO will ho required for immediate use.
