HARBOURMASTER AT SUVA.

SUVA. May 1.1.

The Governor of Fiji, Sir Mnrchison Fletcher, to-day presented to Captain Edward Twentyman, harbourmaster at Suva, his badge as a member of the civil division of tlio Older of tlio British Empire. Tlio captain's record includes tho reward, when lie was aged 16, of a gold watch for a rescuo at a lire in 1884, and of a sextant for tho gallant rescue of a drowning man at Capetown. In 1898, at Sydney Harbour, ho rescued a drowning man and was awarded the silver medal of the Royal Humane Society. At Eevuka, Fiji, in 1919, he rescued the master of tho ship King Cyrus from poisonous lames and again received the silver mcda) of tlio Royal Humane Society and Stanhope Gold Modal for the most meritorious deed of the year.

In .Tunc, 1929, ho assisted in rescuing a drowning passenger off Suva Harbour. A Fijian boatman, Aliki, also received the M.B.E. for assisting at tho last incident.
