MEETING OF CABINET.

GATHERING AT ROTORUA. MEMBERS CONFER TO-DAY. ONLY ONE MINISTER ABSENT. [DT TELEGRAPH. —SPECIAL REPORTER.] ROTORUA, Tuesday. All tho members of tho Cabinet except the Attorney-General, Sir Ihonias Sidey, j will meet in Rotorua to-morrow. The Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, who is receiving treatment here, will preside. Tho ■ Hon. W. B. Taverner arrived in Rotorua last week to receive treatment for his knee, while the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy and the Hon. J. B Donald arrived more recently. Sir Apirana Ngata will arrive to-morrow from tho East Coast, while tho other Ministers aro expected from Wellington at 9.30 a.m to-morrow. The Cabinet meeting will conclude in timo to allow Ministers to leave on their return to Wellington at, 5 p.m. to-morrow. Sir Joseph Ward will probably remain in Rotorua until tho end of tho month or early in June. It is his intention to be present at tho opening of Parliament, which i 3 expected to tako place as usual on the last Thursday in Juno. EXODUS WELLINGTON. MEETING SHOULD END TO-DAY. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Six Ministers of tho Crown left Wellington by the north-bound limited express to-night to attend the meeting of tin) Cabinet which is to take place at Rotorua to-morrow. Tho Ministerial party comprised tho Minister of Lands and Agriculture, Hon. G. W. Forbes; tho Minister of Public Works, Hon. E. A. Ransom; the Minister of Labour, Hon. W. A. Veitch; the Minister of Defence, Hon. H. Atrnore, the Minister of Defence, Hon. J. G. Cobbe, and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. P. A. de la Perrolle. No private secretaries travelled with their Ministers, but tho head of the Prime Minister's Department, Mr. F. D. Thomson, accompanied them to Rotorua in his capacity as secretary to the Cabinet. Tho only other member of tho party was Mr. V. A. Ward, who is ft member of the Prime Minister's secretarial corps. The party occupied several apartments of an extra cruising car which was attached to the limited. The remaining apartments wero at the disposal of members of the travelling public. The present intention is that the meeting will not extend beyond to-morrow and that Ministers shall leave Rotorua late in tho afternoon, so as to enable them to connect with tho scnth-bonnd limited at Frankton Junction to-morrow night and arrive back in Wellington on Thursday morning. It is expected that several other Ministers who havo been out of Wellington for some days will retnrn to Wellington on Thursday with those who went north to-night. The only absentee from to-morrow's meeting will be the Attorney-General, Sir Thomas Sidey, who did not return from the South Island this morning, as was originally intended.
