ROTORUA NOTES.
GARDEN PARTY.
Mrs. FT. Bertram, president of the Rotorua Branch of the Trained Nurses' Association, entertained members at a garden party hold at her residence, "Glenholrne," on Friday afternoon. The hostess received her guests wearing a frock of black crepe de chine, figured with scarlet carnations. Miss Evans wore navy blue satin spotted in primrose and blue. An interesting competition, which enabled the guests to wander over the gardens, was tho guessing of the names of various shrubs growing thero. The first prize went to Miss Searell and the second to Mrs. F. Wilkie. Afternoon tea was served in tho drawing room and tho lounge, which were charmingly decorated with vases of pale pink roses and pink chrysanthemums. Later the guests took part in a very novel competition, in which they were asked to guess tho names of different articles which were disguised in I'ttlo floral bags. The first prize went to Mrs. Naumann, and Sister Harris and Sister Burgess tied for tho second prize. Among those who were present were:— Mrs. F. Wilkie, Miss Mitchell, Sister Mitchell, Matron Andrews,' Miss Ilanron, Miss Smith, Miss Mactier, Miss Gordon, Matron Searell, Sister Stanton, Miss Wynne Brown, Sister Budd, Mrs. Howard, Mrs. Arthur Gee, Sister Burgess, Mrs. Naumann, Sister Harris, Sister Macpherson, Mrs. W. B. Gieseti. Evening Party.
On Saturday evening Jurigo and Mrs. Holland entertained a number of young peoplo at tlioir hoino in Carnot Street, to celebrate the announcement of tlio engagement of their daughter, Nancy, to Mr. Ronald Young. Mrs. Holland received her guests in a frock of navy silk embroidered crepe do chine, and Miss Nancy Holland wore forget-me-not bluo charmeuse. The. rooms wero artistically arranged with vases of chrysanthemums and dahlias, in lemon and golden brown shades. Competitions and progressive games were enjoyed. Among thoso present, were:—Miss Cherie Holland, Miss Verena Holland, Miss Ruth Holland, Miss Barbara Holland, Mrs. T. Mellsop, Mis, Watts, Miss Ounn, Miss D. Griffiths, Miss J. Giesen, Miss M. Coonev, Mr. Young, Mr. Ronald Young, Mr. Mellsop. Mr. Watts, Ml'. A. Dannefaerd, Mr. Farren, Mr. Burnham, Mr. G. McDowell, Mr. R. Harrison, Mr. R. Duncan. Mrs. S. Hay and the Misses Joan and Yvonne Hay are spending the holidays at Devonport, Auckland. Mrs. J. Ilerrold is visiting Cheltenham Beach. Auckland visitors to Rotorua include Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Kent and Miss Margery Kent, Miss M. Frater, Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs and family, Mrs. T. Davies, Mrs. Best, Mr. and Airs. E. Harper and son.
Miss Lewis is spending a holiday with her brother, Dr. L. A. Lewis.
Airs. Campbell-Smith and the Misses Campbell-Smith are spending a few weeks in Rotorua.
