JO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. Tho following wenther forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— Fair to cloudy weather is indicated, with conditions clouding over and rain following in most districts. A slow-moving disturbance, at present located on the southwest Tasman Sea, is approaching New Zealand from tho west. Temperatures will be milder and fairly warm in east coast districts. Northerly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, prevailing and freshening. Seas moderate, although fairly rough along the cast coast of tho North Island. Local outlook: Fair to cloudy, followed by showers. Barometer, midnight, steady 30.451n. Midnight, Monday .. r.-. 30.501n. GOVERNMENT REPORT. Tho Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —The anti-cyclone is now to the east of New Zealand. Pressure lias fallen rapidly in the South, but only slowly in the North. The depression now approaching tho Southern part of tho Dominion is followed by a sharp rise of pressure, so that conditions are favourable for a sharp southerly chango when it passes. Indications aro for northerly winds, moderate to strong in most placed, but reaching gale force at times in and south of Cook Strait. A chango to strong southerlies may be expected in the South after about 16 hours, and to extend gradually northwards. Strong northerly winds in tho eastern Tasman Sea, backing shortly to strong southerlies, to gales. Seas heavy in tho southern portion and rough elsewhere. Seas rough south of Cape Egmont and off-shoro south of Castlepoint, elsewhere moderate. Weather unsettled in districts with a westerly aspect, more especially from Taranaki southwards/, with some rain. Later rain extending to most eastern districts. Temperatures mild, but a cold chango working up from the South tomorrow.
