.VISIT. OF VETERANS*
The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe received members ol the King's Empire Veterans at Government House yesterday morning. Their Excellencies met 18 of tho old soldiers and sailors, and Captain J. Stichbury and Lieutenant G. Powley spoke on behalf of the veterans. Lord Bledisloe assured them of his interest in their affairs.
Their Excellencies will be the guests at a civic At Home in tho Town Hail this evening. Lord Bledisloe will attend the Chamlier of Commerce luncheon to-mor-row. The women's organisations of Auckland will tender a reception to Lady Bledisloe in the Town Hall next Tuesday afternoon.
"AT HOME" IN TOWN HALL.
LARGE NUMBER INVITED,
About 1700 invitations have been issued for tho civic At Home in honour of the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe, in tho Town Hall this evening. The hall is being elaborately decorated with nikau palms, lycopodium and coloured lights, and the stage is being converted into tho semblance of a garden, with a rock-bordered cascade in the centre. The Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, vrill receive the other guests prior to the arrival of Their Excellencies. A musical programme has been arranged, and there will be dancing after supper to music by . the Municipal Band. The Mayor desires it to be understood that guests will be required to present their cards of invitation at the door, otherwise they cannot be admitted.
