Mr. and Mrs. T. Philcox, of -Auckland, returned by the Ulimaroa yesterday, after an extended holiday trip to South Afiica.

Mr. J. T. Armitage, of Lns Angeles, California, who left .Auckland 14 years ago, arrived by the To'fua from Fiji yesterday.

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. McClymont, of Launceston, Tasmania, and Mr. and Mrs, W. A. J. Dutch, of Wellington, are,at. the Hotel Slonehurst.

Mr. K. McVitty, formerly United States Consul in Auckland, who has been occupying a similar position in Malta, has been transferred to Kenya Colony.

Mr. J. P. Austin, of London, Mr. R. Brown, of Scarborough, England, Mr. A. Hancock, of Wellington, and Mr. F. Swan, of Wanganui, are at the Royal Hotel.

Mr. H. J. Barford has been elected to fill tho vacancy on the Morrinsville Borough Council caused by the resignation of Mr. T. Martin. There was no other nomination.

Professor H. W. Segar, of the Auckland University College, has gone to Wellington to attend a meeting of the University Senate. Ho expects to return to Auckland at the end of next week.

Mr. IT. C. Taylor has been appointed veterinary surgeon to the Waiuku Farmers' Veterinary Club, and he will commence his duties early in June. For the last four years Mr, Taylor has held a similar position with tho Rangitaiki Dairy Company.
