INVITATION BOYS' TOURNEY

PLAY COMMENCED YESTERDAY

Tho Auckland Golf Club's invitation boys tournament, open to any secondary school boy in the Dominiou. was commenced at Middlcmoro yesterday in perfect weather, the course being in splendid condition. The entries, which numbered 26. came from Wunganui College, New Plymouth High School, Takapuna Grammar, Auckland Grammar and King's College.

Some fino golf was witnessed, C. Zahara. King's College, tho holder of the championship, P. Howden, King's College, and G. Duncan, King's College, all averaging 86 for tho two qualifying rounds. The morning medal competition was won by D. Rogers, Wanganui College, .'with a score of 87, !"»—57. The afternoon competition was won by D. Pierce. King's College, with a bcoro of 93, 'lo—so.

Difficulty in handicapping tho boya was experienced, an examplo being gained from Pier ;c's scores.
