FINE OF £2O IMPOSED,

A charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car, and flot being the possessor of a licence, iwas preferred against George Daly in the Rotorua Police Court to-day.
Sergeant Ilogan said accused was driving while he was drunk. About two months ago, in Auckland, he was fined £2O for a similar offence and prohibited from driving for 12 months.
Accused said he was in a friend's Thinking ho was the more sober of the two he took the wheel himself.
The magistrate, Mr. S. L. Paterson, said accused had not learned his lesson from his past experience. He would not fine him this time but would sentence him to one month's imprisonment. He would also be prohibited from obtaining a licence for five years. George Darrock, who plso was charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car, was fined £2O and his licence was cancelled for 12 months.
