A very pleasant gathering of the Auckland District executive of the Women's Christian Temperance Union took place »t the Y.W.C.A. this week, when members entertained Mrs. Wright, a white xibboner, who was returning to Canada from Australia, at luncheon. The district president, Mrs. Lee Cowie, welcomed the guest, and both ladies spoke upon the recent temperance campaign in Victoria. Later, the regular monthly meeting of the district executive wis held, Mrs Cowic presiding. Final arrangements were made for_ the annual peace meeting and the bnng-and-buy sale. Miss Fvfe reported ori her temperance class work in the public schools, and was appointed superintendent of that department of work. A resolution of strong protest was passed against the proposal to erect another brewery in the Auckland district.
