NORTHERN GUMLANDS.
Sir, —The report on the cost of breaking in gumland given by the Minister of Agriculture did not profess to do mora than deal with tho clay gumlands typified by I'liweia. Some land containing gum is quite good and can be brought in easily—most of this class of country is under cultivation. The major portion of northern gumland available for eettlement is decidedly hard country. A. E. Robinson*
