SHEEP-STEALING CHARGE.

FRESH EVIDENCE PROPOSED. ADJOURNMENT GRANTED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —*RESS ASSOCIATION.] DUXEDIIC, Monday. The sheep-stealing case against Gilbert William Lewis, which was before the Supreme Court last week and adjourned until to-day owing to witnesses for the defence being seen conversing with two jurymen, took another surprising turn this morning, when the Crown intimated its intention of calling a considerable volume of fresh evidence. As the defence had only short notice of the introduction of fresh evidence, counsel's application for an adjournment until next session was granted.
