DISORDERLY COUPLE.
"ONE OF WORST IN CITY."
BOTH SENT TO PRISON.
Described by Acting-Detective Moore as one of the worst couples in tho city, John Reid, aged 38. fishcurer, and his wife, Ada Reid. aged 39, were charged before Mr.- F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Polico Court on Saturday morning with being idlo and disorderly, in that they had insufficient means of support. Accused, who were represented by Mr. Noble, pleaded not guilty.
Acting-Detective Mooro said accused wero frequently seen loitering about the hotels and on "tho streets. The husband was a fisherman by trade, and lie occasionally went to sea.
"And nioro often he goes fo gaol," icmarked the magistrate, perusing accused's list of convictions.
Tho woman, witness continued, had been prohibited, and was often seen in taxi-cabs with men. Reid had not dono a day's work since April 5, and during the past threo years ho had not done more than three months' work. Sir. Noble said Reid had received £6O during the past two months. He had a family of six children. Tho Magistrate: His six children arc all on the hands of the, State. If ho received that money, why did he not pay some of it for their maintenance? Accused were both sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
