MAWSON EXPEDITION.

OFFER BY FORMER DONOR. £6OOO TO ASSIST WORK. CANBERRA, May 2. Mr. Macßobertson, who gave £IO,OOO for the Discovery's recent Antarctic voyage, has offered a further £6OOO, which tho Federal Government has accepted, and Sir Douglas Mawson will resume his exploration in accordance with the plans tentatively prepared.

No further Government grant is con sired necessary.

The then Prime Minister, Mr. S. M. Bruce, stated at. Canberra on May 2, 1929, that, Mr. MacEobertson had given £IO.OOO toward the cost of Sir Douglas Mawson's expedition. Mr. Macßobertson is a manufacturer of confectionery at Melbourne.
