In the course of a lecture on football (actios given to the laranaki coaches at Stratford last evening, C-. Porter said that in view of the coming tour of the British team, New Zealand football haij been criticised from all angles. lie had often been asked to give an opinion of the ability of the English team, but all he could do was to give his impressions gained during the 1924 tour. Rugby in Britain was of a much higher standard than most people wero aware. The 1924 All Blacks were lucky In being always able to field their best team. His own impression was that English county Rugby was equal to provincial play in New Zealand, and that club football in some counties was of a high standard. The team Britain would select, he thought, would bo able to extend to the fullest anv other team which could be assembled.

Owing to the new rule New Zealand was at, a disadvantage in forward play when meeting a team playing tho old rule. As regards back play New Zealand had nothing to fear.
