LEVY ON SALARIES.
NEW SOUTH WALES SCHEME.
DECISION IN ABEYANCE.
SYDNEY, April 10
Tho New South Wales Government's scheme to impose a levy on wages and salaries is estimated to return between £2,000,000 and £3,000,000 a year. It has not yet been decided what tho rate shall be, but Ministers have suggested that 2d or 3d in the pound be imposed, with a larger rate on the higher salaries.
