QUEEN MARY'S LIFE.
INTIMATE REVELATIONS.
TENDER AND SYMPATHETIC.
INFLEXIBLE CODE OF DUTY.
NEVER FAILING DIGNITY.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received April 11, 12.5 a.m.) LONDON, April 10. A biography of Her Majesty Queen Mary, by Lady Charlotte Cavendish, reveals the Queen's whole life with charming intimacy and tasteful restraint. " From the point of view of character and mental ability," says the biographer, " tho Queen is the most outstanding member of the Royal Family. But as a woman she is still comparatively unknown and often misunderstood. " She inherited in her childhood shyness and though she has never wholly outgrown that tendency it has slowly hardened into a slight reserve, which betimes has fallen liko a chilly curtain between tho British people and their Queon." Lady Cavendish portrays Her Majesty as a strict but tender Mother, by no means indulgent, yet a warm-hearted, sympathetic woman and Queen, with an inflexible conception of her duties. " She has great dignity, which has not been known to fail," savs the biographer. "Indeed she regards dignity as being as necessary to her position as her Crown was to her coronation. She has no patience with women of rank who forgot what they owe to their position." Referring to. clothes, tho authoress says: " The Prince of Wales, much to his mother's amusement, often begged her to adopt another style of dressing. Years ago, when styles which favourer] the Queen were tho height of fashion, she decided they suited her as nothing had done before and probably nothing would after. Therefore, sho decided that should be her mode of dress for the rest of her life.
" When the Royal Family changed it 3 name from Guelph to Windsor the Queen was largely responsible. Once she told a friend that Mary Windsor was tho nicest name a woman could have.'
