HEALTH OFFICER'S STATEMENT.

CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday
The medical officer of health in Canterbury, Dr. T. Fletcher Telford, said today that he did not believe the complaint from which the Mexican pariots died in Christchurch was psittacosis. He had never considered that the parrots were affected with that disease. If he had believed that they were, lie would have advised his head office and the local authorities concerned. This he. had not done.
