CLOTHING FOR CHILDREN.<
ANNUAL GIFT AFTERNOON
The annual gift afternoon organised by the ladies' committee of the .Auckland Methodist orphanages took place at the Pitt Street Schoolroom, and was largely attended. . The president, Mrs. Peak, presided.
Addresses on orphanage work were given by Mrs. Everiss, matron of the Buckland Road Home, Epsom, and by Mrs. Gilmour, of Papua, wife of the Rev. M. K. Gilmour, who has been a missionary in Papua fcr nearly' 30 years. Mrs. Gilmour. who has taken an active share of missionary work with her husband, told some striking stories of the rescue and training of Papuan' orphans. Elocutionary selections were rendered by Mrs. T. Clark and Miss Kirkpatrick, and songs by Miss Jean Buttle. A large quantity of material and clothing, and about £2O in cash, was given to assist the orphanage clothing department, which is entirely maintained by the ladies' committee, for the "clothirg of 106 children at Mount Albert and Epsom.
