MORE FACILITIES WANTED.
REQUEST MADE AT HUNTLY

Need for increased facilities in the teaching of technical subjects was brought to the notice of the Minister of Education, Hon. 11. Atmore, at Huntly yesterday, by a deputation from the school committee. Mr. W. .C. E. George, chairman of the Huntly Town Board, said that some years ago Huntly had raised a sum of money for a technical school, but it had been returued after prolonged negotiations.
The headmaster of the Huntlv school, Mr. C. E. Scott, said 15 children went every day to Hamilton for technical instruction. The work of the School of Mines would he considerably assisted by the addition of a technical department. The Minister said he was in favour of a consolidated school, but could at present give no definite assurance that one wojild be established at Huntly. He thought the needs of the district would be best served by an intermediate school. Though this proposal could not be considered for some months, he assured the committee that the school would have a commercial course in the. near future.
