TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT
SMITH LEAVES FOR AMERICA. SOUTHERN CROSS FOR SALE. (Received March 14, 9.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 14. Squadron-Leader C. Kingsford Smith sailed for the United States and England to-day to make arrangements for his trans?itlantic flight. Flight-Lieutenant Ulm has been refused leave by the Australian National Airways, and consequently could not accompany him. Mr. Ulm stated that the primary object of Mr. Kingsford Smith's visit abroad was to sell the Southern Cross, which is lying at Amsterdam. If he is successful the flight across the Atlantic will not be' undertaken.
